In roaring twenties Chicago, chorine Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband, Amos, to take the rap…until he finds out he’s been duped and turns on Roxie. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another “Merry Murderess,” Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the “American Dream”: fame, fortune, and acquittal. This sharp-edged satire features a dazzling score that sparked immortal staging by Bob Fosse.

SCHOOL MATINEE Friday December 8th at 9:30

Based upon the Twentieth Century Fox motion picture, “This is a tale that we want to believe in, that creates a world we seem to desperately desire, free of the blatant commercialism that surrounds us, where love and decency and generosity of spirit are their own rewards. What we want Christmas to be all about, really.” So writes the Santa Cruz Sentinel of this most heartwarming holiday story.
By chance, Kris Kringle, an old man in a retirement home, gets a job working as Santa for Macy’s. Kris unleashes waves of good will with Macy’s customers and the commercial world of New York City by referring parents to other stores to find exactly the toy their child has asked for.
Seen as deluded and dangerous by Macy’s vocational counselor, who plots to have Kris shanghaied to Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital, Kris ends up in a court competency hearing. Especially at stake is one little girl’s belief in Santa.
Join us in for this Christmas Classic to discover the true magic and miracle of the Christmas season!
Produced by special arrangement with THE DRAMATIC PUBLISHING COMPANY of Woodstock Illinois.”

Holy Heart High School Presents Eugene Ionesco’s The Bald Soprano

“Often called the father of the Theater of the Absurd, Eugène Ionesco wrote groundbreaking plays that are simultaneously hilarious, tragic, and profound.” Through their Theatre in the World studies, Holy Heart High School’s Theatre 3220 Fall semester class decided to tackle this Ionesco classic.

The Bald Soprano is, “a hilarious, unique satire on the ordinary English middle class, in which “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” talk to each other at cross purposes, while their guests, “Mr. and Mrs. Martin” fail to understand, and the Maid and a Fire Chief enter the absurd fray, getting nowhere at all.”

The Bald Soprano features newcomers to the Performing Arts Certificate Program with Patrick Stokes as Mr. Smith, Hannah Ireland as Mrs. Smith, Nick Bendza as Mr. Martin, Keara Burns as Mrs. Martin, Andrew Troake as the Fire Chief, and Rebecca Seward as Mary the Maid.

Join us November 24th and 25th at the LSPU hall to see these young actors revel in the world of the absurd.

“Bald Soprano” is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, INC.

Holy Heart High School’s Production of
Rodgers & Hammerstein’s

Tickets here:

The timeless enchantment of a magical fairy tale is reborn with the Rodgers & Hammerstein hallmarks of originality, charm and elegance. Originally presented on television in 1957 starring Julie Andrews, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s CINDERELLA was the most widely viewed program in the history of the medium. Its recreation in 1965 starring Lesley Ann Warren was no less successful in transporting a new generation to the miraculous kingdom of dreams-come-true, and so was a second remake in 1997, which starred Brandy as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as her Fairy Godmother. As adapted for the stage, with great warmth and more than a touch of hilarity, the hearts of children and adults alike still soar when the slipper fits!

Join us for a night of enchantment and magic with Vocal Direction by Robert Colbourne, Orchestral Direction by Rob Lee, Aerial Arts by Anahareo Doelle, Dance Choreography by Pamela Pittman, and Direction by John Rao.
